Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 May 2026  ·  Effective: 16 May 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Akam Innovations Private Limited ("Akam Innovations," "we," "us," or "our") for your use of the Zonon app, the Zonon website, and any related services we offer (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. Who can use Zonon

You can use Zonon if you're at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) and you can form a binding agreement under the law that applies to you. If you're using Zonon on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

2. Your account

To use most features of the Service you sign in with Apple. You're responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure; if your Apple ID is compromised, anyone who controls it can reach your Zonon account. We rely on Apple to verify you. You can remove a device at any time from the Devices screen inside the app, or by writing to hello@zonon.app.

3. How you can use the Service

Use Zonon for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Record people, conversations, or meetings without the legal consent required where the recording happens. The recording laws of the relevant jurisdiction always apply; Zonon is a tool, not a license to ignore them.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or violate the privacy or intellectual-property rights of any person.
  • Attempt to break, probe, reverse-engineer, or work around the security of the Service, except where local law permits and the activity is genuinely for security research, in which case please contact hello@zonon.app first.
  • Resell, rent, or sublicense the Service.
  • Use the Service to build a competing product.
  • Misrepresent your identity, your country, or the entity you're acting for.

4. Recording consent is your responsibility

Many places require all participants in a conversation to consent to being recorded; others require only one party. Zonon includes affordances - the system-level microphone indicator, the optional disclosure chime, the per-meeting consent UX (where available) - but you are responsible for satisfying the law that applies to you, your participants, and the location of the recording. If you're unsure, get explicit consent before pressing record.

5. Your content stays yours

You own everything Zonon creates from your recordings - the audio, the transcripts, the summaries, the briefings, the notes. Akam Innovations claims no rights in any of it. Because that content stays on your device and (where you opt in) your iCloud, we couldn't use it even if we wanted to - see the Privacy Policy for the full data boundary.

6. What we license to you

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for as long as your account is active and you comply with these terms. The Zonon app, its source code, the logos, the documentation, and the marketing site are owned by Akam Innovations and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. We're not transferring any of those rights to you.

7. Apple frameworks and third parties

Zonon runs on Apple platforms and uses Apple frameworks for speech recognition, on-device AI (FoundationModels, Core ML), calendars, reminders, contacts, notifications, and iCloud sync. Apple's licenses and privacy terms apply to those features in addition to ours. We don't control how Apple processes the data those frameworks handle. The Zonon backend uses Cloudflare as its infrastructure provider; Cloudflare's terms apply to the backend operation.

8. Paid features and subscriptions

Some features may be offered as paid upgrades or subscriptions, either through the Apple App Store or directly. Where billing is managed by Apple, Apple's payment terms govern the transaction; refunds for App Store purchases follow Apple's policy. If we offer subscriptions directly, we'll show the price, renewal cadence, and cancellation steps before you commit, and we'll honour mandatory consumer protections under the law that applies to you.

9. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove features of the Service from time to time. We try not to break what you depend on; when we have to, we'll give reasonable notice in-app or by email for paid features. The Service is a living product - what's available today may not be exactly the same tomorrow.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Zonon any time by signing out, removing devices, and (if you want) writing to hello@zonon.app to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms (especially §3 and §4), if your continued access exposes us or others to legal or security risk, or if we're required to by law. Where it's safe to do so, we'll tell you before terminating and give you a window to export your local data.

11. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Zonon's on-device speech recognition, transcription, and AI-generated summaries are not perfect - they can mishear, mis-summarise, or skip content. Don't rely on the Service for high-stakes decisions (legal, medical, financial) without independently verifying the source material. We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions don't allow these disclaimers; if you live in one, only the disclaimers permitted there apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Akam Innovations is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from or in connection with the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; where that's the case, only the limits permitted there apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be excluded under applicable law (e.g., for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation).

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Akam Innovations and its officers, employees, and contractors against claims that arise from your use of the Service in violation of these terms or applicable law - including recording someone without the consent required where the recording happens, or using the Service to infringe someone else's rights.

14. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of India, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts in Bengaluru, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not resolved by negotiation, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.

15. Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. We'll surface material changes in-app and on the marketing site at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after the effective date of the change, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree, please stop using the Service before they take effect.

16. Miscellaneous

  • If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
  • Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • You can't assign these terms without our written consent; we can assign them to a successor entity (e.g. as part of a corporate reorganisation or sale).
  • These terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us for the Service.
